DESCRiPTiON

Night music. A view from a high window, street lights and rain, sound
of a car driving in the distance, the ceiling above your bed,
yearning, numbness, thoughts circling around, silence.

Dead People’s Trails is the solo debut of Janne Perttula from Tampere,
Finland. The case is instrumental music where sadness and torment,
sereneness and intensity take turns. At times the music forces like a
thought stuck in your head, but as the pulse abates you can hear
familiar sounds and childhood memories echoing in the distance.

Janne Perttula has few years of experience of playing in small bands.
In spring 2006 he realised that for him the most natural way for
expressing himself is to create art alone. The idea of an album and
accompanying internet videos crystallised quickly. After careful
thinking he picked a name for his music, ”Heroin and Your Veins”. Dead
People’s Trails was recorded during autumn and winter in a studio that
had a view to the night-time city. In spring 2007 Solina Records got
interested in an almost finished album and release plans were made for
the next August.

Besides staring at emptiness the influences of Perttula include Ennio
Morricone, Angelo Badalamenti, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Mogwai,
Portishead, The Velvet Underground, Lee Hazlewood, Franz Kafka, David
Lynch, rock, blues, country, film noir.

This is the second album, enjoy!

Heroin and Your Veins is music for the sake of music, given birth by my
subconscious with spontaneity as a midwife. I am influenced by many artforms
and artists, from Bohren & der Club of Gore to Franz Kafka and from film noir
to Tom waits. I don't know what a good describing word for my music would be.
It is instrumental, because I'm not sure if I want to tell anyone anything and
if I even have anything to tell. It is incorrect to say this is a solo project.
Projects have beginnings and endings, Heroin and Your Veins doesn't. It is
because it is.
