По умолчанию [World] Various Artists - Earth's Answer

Various Artists - 1988 Earth's Answer

William Blake’s visionary poem, written in 1794, speaks to the people of the planet, and of their souls. Although Blake is now regarded as one of the earliest and greatest figures of Romanticism, he was ignored by the public of his day.

Yet the ideas of this mystic Englishman have inspired people of our time who are also moved by the spirit of the universe… people like those who gather at the Lindisfarne Association in Crestone, Colorado. Lindisfarne is a contemplative community working for a new harmony between nature and culture. It’s anthology of essays, “Earth’s Answer”, was inspired by William Blake’s poem, and in turn inspired this collection of music that spans the world and many of its cultures.

This recording celebrates the spirit of the Earth and the unity of its inhabitants. These pieces mirror in music what the book “Earth’s Answer” offered in word. Therefore, special appreciation is expressed to the thoughtful individuals of Lindisfarne, and to William Blake.

Some of the most renowned musicians in the contemporary instrumental music field are represented here. Included are legendary flutist Paul Horn, multi-instrumentalist Deuter, and keyboardist, composer, and scholar, Peter Michael Hamel. Other artists include Hans Otte, James Newton, Double Image, and the phenomenal David Hykes and the Harmonic Choir. All of these artists reveal a profound richness of emotion in their music. Their compositions and performances are born of personal convictions about the purpose and power of music, and of an intense commitment to their instrument and to their art.

The various selections reflect influences from cultures around the world such as Chinese, Turkish, Tibetan, Indian, and Native American. Specifically, these include works from Paul Horn's China, Brian Keane's soundtrack, Suleyman the Magnificent, Henry Wolff's Tibetan Bells II, Deuter's Land of Enchantment, and Carlos Nakai's Sundance Season. This release provides the opportunity to revel in the wisdom and spirit of the music of the world.
