Moccasin, who formed in 2003, are a Denver, Colorado band that mixes melancholy and atmosphere to paint a rather baroque picture. They mix soothing sounds of psychedelic fuzz with depressing tones.
The songs flow from one to the next, and it is easy to get caught up in the utter beauty of it all. The vocals are distant at times, not in a production sense, but in an ethereal sense. And speaking of the vocals, there is an apparent Thurston Moore influence, as well as Sonic Youth in general. The eight songs that make up this release paint a very dark, drab picture, and damn is it a good picture. Moccasin also at times sounds like Kataonia, Last Fair Deal Gone Down. Last Leaf is a great release that should only see the band getting better and better.

If you want to really feel the music and get totally wrapped up in it, than Moccasin is the band for you. Their sad tones and morose strumming will have you hooked. Make sure you check these guys out.
